Opera Turbo is a free service that speeds up browsing on slow connections. In the best case, it will make a dial-up connection more nearly resemble a broadband line. In cases where the connection speed is variable or in doubt, an automatic setting permits Opera itself to decide if Opera Turbo can be beneficial, and to act accordingly.
Besides changing how webpages display and the look and feel of the browser itself, you can also change how the browser behaves, for example, you can change the settings for security, built-in preferences, BitTorrent, and updates.
Configuring the Speed Dial Layout
You can choose the number of Website thumbnails to be displayed in the Speed dial interface.
- Open Opera/ New empty Tab.
- Click on the Configure Speed Dial button.
- You can now choose between the layouts.
- Add a background image to the Speed Dial
- Simply check the Enable background image option and click on the Choose button, to browse your disk.
- Or simply hide the Speed Dial feature.
Once you have set the Layout click on the Ok button to save your changes.
- It still remains to assign the URL of the websites (if they aren't already in your Favorites of course).
- To to this right click on any of the thumbs on the Speed Dial.
- Click on Edit.
- A window shall open and you shall have a text area "Enter Web address here"
How to configure opera turbo ?
To configure Opera Turbo, click the drop-down arrow on the right side of the icon, and select "Configure". Three options are available:
- Automatic
- Enable Opera Turbo only when a slow network is detected
- On
- Optimize pages with Opera Turbo so they load faster on slow networks
- Off
- Load pages normally, without Opera Turbo (default)
In case of doubt, select the "Automatic" setting. These options are available also in the Webpages tab of Preferences.
The notification about network speed can be turned on or off via the checkbox marked "Notify me about network speed"
